Vegetarian potluck lunch

I had a vegetarian potluck lunch yesterday at a friend's house.

Borscht
My friend learned the recipe when she lived in Russia. She says Borscht in Russia is like miso soup in Japan - Russians eat this soup every day. They normally put meat in it, but my friend made it vegetarian-friendly as I don't eat meat.

Nut loaf
Made with rice, nuts, wheat germ and corn. It was really really tasty.

Pickled vegetables
Very colorful! They are fun to see and good to eat!

I made two Japanese dishes.

Takikomi gohan
Rice cooked with carrots, dried tofu and mushrooms.

Ganmodoki

Deep-fried tofu with seaweed, green soybeans, carrots and shiitake mushrooms.

We had cakes too.
One of my friends, K, is a professional baker. The Paris-Brest was a piece of art.
We ate a lot and talked a lot, and I felt so refreshed.

Good food and good conversation are essential ingredients for health.

Eat healthy!

But in case you are absolutely busy to cook or want to stick to your not-so-healthy diet for some reason, take supplements at the very least. Then you'll have energy to go out and have fun with friends.
